The filenames of the letters are organized by the date with the year, month and day. They range from 1860 to 1866. A date of December 18, 1862 would have a filename 621218. Some don't have clear dates and there are a few that are different letters from different people and have the same dates. These are followed by an "a" "b" etc. Some of the letters also have a front and back so the name will be followed by "-F" for front scan or "-R" for rear scan of the letter. Punctuation in the originals didn't exist and the use of capital letters was random at best so all sentence breaks and punctuation marks are my own. Missing words that were filled in by me are enclosed in parentheses (example) and these words are my interpretation of what they intended to say. I know there are mistakes still. I've caught many of my early mistakes and I'm certain there are those I've missed. If you find any, please email me at the address on my "contact" page and I'll correct them.

All picture files are in JPEG format and low resolution due to restrictions on file sizes in my photo system. Some of the smaller files I will try to upgrade to better resolutions as time allows. They are still readable however. All scans are available in both high resolution and low resolution on CD with a collection of photos and links.
